When we bought our home one of the things I was most excited about was this kitchen. It had granite counter tops, a large sink, and TONS of cabinet space! I could see past the farmhouse wallpaper and the deep red paint and envision a sleek modern kitchen that would fit our needs perfectly.
The wallpaper in the kitchen was much easier to remove than the bedroom wallpaper. Years of being hit with heat and steam from cooking allowed it to peel off seamlessly. We used a simple scraper to get it started and then we could pull off the paper in large swaths.
Thankfully the wallpapered sections of the kitchen were only on the top half of the wall. The second step was to prime the walls. The thick red paint took several coats of primer to create a fresh base.
The final product was a pale grey top half and a slate grey bottom half. It paired well with the gunmetal knobs and pulls on the cabinets and even accentuated the grey flecks in the granite.
I'm so happy with how the kitchen turned out!
